On Wednesday, November 1, 2017 the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of five to one, en route to the first World Series in club history. This series was the most entertaining World Series I have experienced in my lifetime. To start off, the Dodgers took game one behind the best pitcher in baseball, Clayton Kershaw. In game two, the Dodgers gave up the lead late when Marwin Gonzalez hit a home run to tie the game up in the ninth inning. The Astros scored two runs on back-to-back home runs from Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa in the top half of the tenth. During the bottom of the tenth, the Dodgers got a home run from Yasiel Puig and a single by Kike Hernandez to tie the game back up at five. The eleventh inning was the deciding point in the game. George Springer hit a two-run home run to take the lead for good. The series was tied one a piece when it moved to Houston. Games three and four were split just like the first two games of the series. Game five became a game for the ages! The Dodgers got on the board with three runs in the first. The Astros responded in the fourth inning with a double and a three-run home run to tie the game up at four. The Dodgers then responded with a three-run home run themselves to take a three run lead. As the bottom half of the fifth rolled around, the Astros responded with a three-run home run themselves to tie the game back up at seven. You can not write these type of games. In the seventh, the Dodgers scored on an error to take a one run lead. The bottom of the seventh was something outrageous. The Astros scored four runs on six pitches to take the lead. In the ninth inning, the Dodgers fought back and scored three runs to tie the game and send it to extra innings. In the tenth inning, the Astros finished the game with a base hit by Alex Bregman giving them a twelve to eleven win. The last two games were back in Los Angeles. The Dodgers stayed alive in game six with two home runs late to win three to one. This set up the best two words in sports. Game Seven. As I said earlier, the Astros ended up winning game seven by a score of five to one. This World Series did not lack in excitement. There were twenty-one home runs during the seven games including eight in game two. The 2017 World Series will go down as one of the best Fall Classics in Major League Baseball history.
