While Trumps statements of the United States planning to occupy and control The Gaza Strip were originally viewed as unserious back in February, he reiterated these plans on April 7th in an Oval Office interview that was open to select media personnel. Trump made statements calling the strip a “prime piece of real estate” and he went even further by claiming that it would be best for peace in the region if the United States were to control the land and become a glorified police force ensuring peace. Continuing on this notion President Trump has made it public that he believes it is the only way to weed out Hamas from the area. Plans to remove the current residents of Gaza and relocate them to surrounding areas. Trump has stated “and if you take the people, the Palestinians, and move them around to different countries, and you have plenty of countries that will do that, and you have the freedom zone, we’ll call it the freedom zone.” plans to make it a neutral zone where any and all are welcome although in order to achieve it you have to evict the current residents in a borderline ethnic cleansing. This may result in less violence in and around these countries but may also result in increased division as the residents will be forcefully removed.
