In a surprising turn of events, the Minnesota Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns 4-0 in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. The Timberwolves, led by an outstanding performance from Anthony Edwards, dominated the series, despite the Suns being favored initially Suns fans thought that they were going to sweep the Timberwolves sadly reality hit them hard.

Anthony Edwards was pivotal, scoring 40 points in the series-clinching Game 4, including several crucial shots in the final minutes that sealed the victory for Minnesota. His performance, combined with strong support from Karl-Anthony Towns who had 10 rebounds, 28 Points, and 3 assists, highlighted the Timberwolves’ depth and defensive prowess. Like Anthony Edwards said, “They may have Kevin Durant but we have J. McDaniels.”

The Suns struggled against Minnesota’s top-ranked defense, anchored by Rudy Gobert and bolstered by standout perimeter defenders like Jaden McDaniels. Phoenix’s stars, including Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, were unable to overcome the Timberwolves’ defensive intensity, with Booker managing just 20.3 points per game until a breakout performance in the final game.

This sweep marks a significant milestone for the Timberwolves, securing their first playoff series win since 2004, while the Suns face a challenging offseason to reassess their roster and strategy. The Timberwolves are looking like they are on track to go to the Finals.
