Whitney Murray is a senior cheerleader, and has attended McPherson College for four
years. Her major is K-12 Spanish Licensure. After graduation, Whitney will
begin teaching with the Topeka School District in Fall of 2018, but she is
unsure of what grade yet. She began cheering when she was in the 5th grade,
but stopped in middle school until her junior year to play other sports.
Murray began cheering again her junior year of high school. Whitney has
been a part of the cheer and dance program here since her freshman year, and
was one of the girls who helped jumpstart the program. “Being a part of
this program has given me a HUGE lesson in patience. Starting out as a club
and trying to promote us to sport status was a long journey, but I am proud
of what the team has become!”, Murray said. Whitney advises underclassmen
to try everything, because you never know what hidden talents you may have.
She also says not to take on too much, enjoy what you love to do, but make
sure you have priorities. Murray’s involved in Alpha Psi Omega, is on the
board for Teachers of Tomorrow, is secretary of the choir club, Bella Voce,
and is a senior representative for Student Government Association. “Coming
to McPherson College has been the best decision of my life. I’ve been give
so many incredible opportunities from going to Europe my freshman year, to
traveling to Spain to help obtain my degree. Now all I have to do is
student teach this semester to walk across that stage in May! #C/O2018”
I love you Whitney and hope you do well teaching Love Your Grandpa.
