As of today, President Donald Trump has made his pics for the key cabinet positions public that will help him in his second term and shape his administration with a mix of loyalists, controversial individuals, and conservative figures. Among the most notable and controversial picks, is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the secretary of health and human services. Kennedy is expected to push Trump‘s health agenda while facing significant hurdles from senate confirmation due to his divisive record.
Another notable choice for secretary of housing and urban development is Scott Turner, a former NFL player and now Texas legislator. This signals a focus on revitalizing economically distressed communities. As for the department of transportation, Trump has chosen former congressman and Fox News contributor Sheen Duffy, who is expected to hold an emphasis on infrastructure projects over climate initiatives.
Linda McMahon, famously known for being a former WWE executive, who is now a small business administration, later was tapped for the secretary of education. Her appointment aligns with Trump’s goal to cut back on the departments influence while revisiting Democratic policies on discrimination, protections, and student debt relief.
Other selections include Chris Wright, a proponent of the fossil fuel industry, as the energy secretary, expressing Trump’s goal to increase fossil fuel production within the United States. Furthermore, Doug Collins, a staunch ally of Trump, was chosen to lead the veterans affairs. Trump has also selected hedge fund manager Scott Bessent as the treasury secretary, signaling an economic focus on traditional markets and deregulation .
Trump’s appointments reflect his intent to challenge the establishment while promoting a conservative agenda. With senate confirmations looming, these choices are expected to face intense scrutiny.
