On October 20th millions and millions of fans waited until midnight for the release of Taylor Swift’s 10th studio album titled “Midnights”. Swift had told fans to mark this date on their calendars back on August 29th when Swift won Video of the Year at the MTV Music Awards for her short film titled All Too Well and told the whole world that her newest album would come out October 21st. Fans had waited almost two months for Swift’s album, and she did not disappoint with 13 amazing songs about different nights in her life that really affected her throughout her career. She wrote about the album in two phrases that were shown alongside a promotional image of the pop star seated quietly in a dimly lit room. “We lie awake in love and fear, in conflict and in sorrow,” she wrote. We sip alcohol while we ponder the walls. We twitch in our self-made cages and hope we aren’t about to make some terrible, life-changing error right now. This is a collection of music that was created in the small hours of the morning, she said, “a trip between terrors and pleasant dreams. “The demons we confront and the floors we pace. For all of us who have tossed and turned and chosen to keep the lanterns light and continue looking in the hopes that perhaps, at twelve, we will run into each other. Swift made history by taking all ten of the top slots on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single frame with her song “Midnights.” “Anti-Hero,” Swift’s ninth career top song, is leading the way for her on the Hot 100. According to Spotify Taylor Swift has already 1.39 billion streams on the platform and has broken multiple records such as breaking the record for the most-streamed album in a single day in Spotify history upon the release of “Midnights” with 184.7 million streams, all ten entries were from Swift’s latest album “Midnights.” At the top of the list the week that Swift broke the record was “Anti-Hero,” the lead single off of the album, 1 million pure album sales in a week – the first artist to do so since she set the record herself with Reputation in 2017, Taylor Swift is now tied with Barbra Streisand as the female with the most number one albums on Billboard (11) and Midnights is the first album in history to get 10 top 10 hits. You can hate her, or you can love her, but you can’t deny the fact that she works hard, and she knows how to write her songs. Many of Swift’s fans believe that Swift’s next big release will be the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) due to the many “easter eggs” in her Bejeweled music video which just so happened to be released on the birthday of the Speak Now album.
