Rogue writers formerly known as MC Writes is a club that was established on campus in the fall of 2017 by Kerri Snell as the advisor and a group of students. “After taking creative writing with Kerri Snell, we had a really small group of students, but we had a lot of fun. You really bond a lot when you share your writing and your inner thoughts with other writers”, shared Cara Hudson, Junior English Major. It was out of this experience that the club was birthed. Through this club, students learn the writing as well as the publishing process. The meetings include writing using prompts or just mere natural inspiration and workshopping any writing the students may have. This club isn’t only challenging students to explore all of their skills in writing, but it is also restoring a positive image by combatting the stereotypes that come with being an English major. The upcoming events include the launch party of an online Journal at Crafts on Thursday, April 26, 2018 and a workshop with Jason Ryberg is schedule for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Mohler 204. When asked about what she wants to see happen on campus through the club, Hudson had this to say, “I think that this campus has a lot of potential, I have been in many general and some advanced English classes with people from different majors and I realized that you don’t have to be an English major to be a great writer. The club consists of people from a few majors already, but I hope we can continue to be more diverse.”
