The Los Angeles Dodgers stand at the top of baseball world for the second time in two years. They defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series a few weeks back capturing back-to-back championships and officially made their argument about being baseball’s newest dynasty.
The final game was definitely one to remember. The Dodgers were able to pick up the win late 5–4 in extra innings, finishing as one of the most thrilling World Series games of the current years. It was a constant back and forth battle that had fans biting their nails from beginning to the very last pitch. With one strike away from elimination, shortstop Miguel Rojas hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth, keeping the Dodgers alive when everyone thought it was over, and crazy to think they had him a questionable starter just earlier that day. Then, in the 11th inning, catcher Will Smith blasted a walk-off home run that sent Dodger Stadium into pure chaos: the crowd erupted, players stormed the field, and fireworks lit up the sky of Los Angeles.
“It’s a dream come true,” said Smith post-game. “We fought all year, and to win it again in front of our fans means everything.”
The Dodgers are the first to repeat as champions in 25 years. To many in the sports world, they are a real dynasty. A mix of star veterans and young, rising players has created a perfect balance on the team. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Shohei Ohtani starred during the playoffs while youthful pitchers shined at big times.
The success of the Dodgers also is a function of smart management and good teamwork. Yes, they have some of the biggest payrolls in baseball, but they develop young talent as well, or better, than almost anyone. Manager Dave Roberts said the secret to his team’s success was its chemistry. “These guys play for each other,” he said. “It’s not about one star. It’s about 26 guys believing in the same goal.
It wasn’t quite that easy, though, for a Blue Jay team that had been striving for their first championship since the year 1993. A stacked lineup and strong rotation that they had pushed the Dodgers to the limit until the end, but experience and clutch hitting showed out to carry Los Angeles through the whole way.
The 2025 Dodgers will go down in history as one of the greatest teams to be capable to capture this win. With back-to-back championships and showing absolutely no signs of slowing down, the question among fans and experts alike is whether they can make it three in a row next year?
