The McPherson Museum has so many options for interests! There’s a model train room, Mini antique toys and toy cars, a Lion, Meteorites, and Vintage European cars on show in the car room. The museum opens with old toys and brochures for other towns in Kansas with interesting museums and things to see. You go into the first room and see a lion, antique washing devices, and little snippets of Kansas history, complete with voting booths! Going into a separate room, there are paintings and little wooden carvings lining the walls of their art gallery with a piano in the middle for art shows. Walking into the adjacent room, you see the vintage cars, a room for a model train and a “where’s waldo” hide and seek for mini model cars, people, and animals. There’s fossils and meteorites, local McPherson History, a reading nook and kids play corner. What is so interesting about the cars? The fact that they were all once used and adored. The cars shown were gorgeous and well-kept, despite being in use for many years. There’s a vintage Volkswagen Beetle in a lovely mint green right when you walk through the door, followed by an 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagon Replica that AR students still work on and use (and is rumored to make an appearance at Cars Show!), a Miata from 1987, a 1953 Porsche Speedster, and a 1953 Mercedes Benz 300S. All of the cars are gorgeous and in near-mint condition. Little placards tell you about their previous owners and impressive feats the car has achieved before being donated to the museum. If you ever want to look at some local history and explore vintage cars, McPherson Museum is an amazing place to start, especially since it has a rotating vintage car section. Check it out for more fun cars to see!
