One of the biggest events at McPherson College, which has usually always been on the weekend of McPherson’s All Schools Day, has now been moved to April 26th. With McPherson College getting rid of interterm, campus blowout would now be the weekend of graduation. This required tough decisions on whether to move the event up, to ensure it does not interfere with graduation, or to keep it the day before graduation. The ultimate decision was made to move the campus blowout from the All Schools Day to Saturday, April 26th from 1 to 4 p.m. When talking with Sarah Stebbins, who is the Vice President of the Student Government Association, about this decision, she said, “With moving the date, we had to plan around all campus events and had to plan for when most students would be on campus. The date we picked in April was ultimately the best time to do it because we could not do it the day before graduation due to student[s] who live on campus being required to move out by that point. We also did not want to do it right before finals to ensure students had adequate time to prepare for final exams.”

With the decision of moving campus blowout earlier into the school year, athletic events could be a conflict for some of the students on campus. When asked about this potential conflict, Stebbins said, “Considering athletes, we tried our best to plan around their games and practices. However, with not being able to have campus blowout on All Schools Day due to no longer having interterm, it was not really possible to ensure no athletic events were happening, to put it at a reasonable time when students were still on campus and to follow academic schedules.” Stebbins does say that all students are encouraged to go to campus blowout.

The theme of the event was decided by the students who voted on the Student Government Association’s Instagram account and will be Western.
