Beginning on April 14th, 2022, and ending on October 27th, 2022, Elon Musk purchased Twitter. Business tycoon Elon Musk started purchasing Twitter, Inc. shares in January 2022, and by April had amassed a 9.1 percent interest in the firm, making him the largest shareholder. Musk said he didn’t buy the company in a tweet “to increase your income. “I did it in an effort to support humanity, whom I adore” said Musk. He claims to have “acquired” the business in the tweet he sent to Twitter’s advertisers. Musk said, “Twitter cannot become a free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said with no consequences!” He added that the platform had to abide by the law. The social networking platform requires big adjustments, according to Musk.  When Musk traveled with the sink on Wednesday, it was unclear if he met Twitter personnel, but on the social media platform, he indicated that his location was the San Francisco headquarters of the company. Another thing Musk has done since buying Twitter is making verified on Twitter a subscription now. So really anyone if they wanted to can become verified if they pay eight dollars a month which can cause fake news to become much more prevalent now more than ever. For example someone made a fake Eli Lilly Company (Eli Lilly is a global corporation of American pharmaceuticals with its headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana) Twitter account and got it verified by paying the eight dollars and tweeted out that Insulin is free now which caused a huge uproar because due to the blue check mark people thought it was a real thing. Rafael Shimunov, a blue check-marked political and creative activist, said that Eli Lilly’s stock share price dropped by 4.37%, or $16.08, down to $352.30 the day after the bogus Eli Lilly accounts had sent out their fake insulin tweets. What can be done so that people like the person who impersonated Eli and Lilly Company can’t do that again? Should Musk get rid of the subscription based verified idea or should he even have Twitter to begin with?
