On Wednesday April 11th the Newton Public Library came to McPherson College to give a lecture on fake news. Fake news is something that is spread like wildfire around social media. This lecture helped students recognize fake news, and ways to find out if the article has any credibility. The lecture was very helpful. The library showed multiple news stations and where they align themselves on the political spectrum. The partnered pair also gave students multiple websites to check the credibility of articles, such as snopes.com. The lecture was a success. Many students showed up eager to learn, others showed up for extra credit possibilities I personally feel like this lecture was very useful. I have definitely shared fake news on my social media page, and this has showed me what fake news is and what to look out for. More students need to take a lecture to spot fake news, because it is spread like wildfire.
