Every year, the McPherson College education program chooses two candidates that they believe are the best prospective teachers to come. On November 18th, Shaelah White and Ashley Unruh were nominated McPherson College’s Teacher of Promise candidates for the 2017-2018 school year. They attended a banquet in Wichita, Kansas with twenty-one other schools and forty-two other Teacher of Promise nominees. The purpose of this banquet is to discover, recognize, celebrate, and encourage the next generation of teachers. The Teachers of Promise has been recognized as a national model for teacher leadership; it’s also one of the country’s most innovative teacher quality initiatives. 2,000 future teachers have been recognized, 100 master educators, and five teachers of the year have been presented at this event.
