The Race for A Title

By Joe Robben

It’s that time of year again where the games get tougher and the rankings get harder. We are down to just three weeks left in the college football season as the top teams are looking for a ticket to the College Football Playoffs. This is week three of the College Football Rankings and only the top four teams get to be in it. As of now, the top four teams are: LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia; with the first three being undefeated. Things can still change in the next few weeks as Ohio State still has to play No. 8 team Penn State, and the possibility of LSU and Georgia playing in the SEC championship. Some teams continuing to fight for a spot are Alabama, Oregon, Utah, Penn State, Oklahoma and Minnesota. All of these teams have one loss and they are trying to make a case on why they should be in. There have been a lot of upsets and great games this year and there are still more to come. LSU and Ohio State arguably look like the best teams in the country right now as they both have Heisman contenders at quarterback: Joe Burrow and Justin Fields. There have been talks of the Playoffs expanding to more teams as this is the sixth year of the Playoffs. Sophomore Dalton Womack said, “I think the playoffs is a good strategy, but I would like to see them expand the number of teams as I think that would make things more interesting.” The playoff kicks off with the two semifinal games on Saturday Dec. 28 in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The two winners will meet in the National Championship on Monday Jan. 13 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA.
