The unfortunate passing of well-known actor Chadwick Boseman shook the internet Friday, Aug. 28. Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 which eventually progressed to stage IV, according to a detailed post on his Twitter account. Through his diagnoses, he brought films such as Da 5 Bloods (2020), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Black Panther (2018) and many more.
“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther,” read the Twitter post. Boseman’s role as King T’Challa brought representation for black children into the world of superheroes, where representation was few and far between. Along with his role in the Marvel movies, he was also known for his role as Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013). Chadwick Boseman’s range and ability to portray these characters, both fictional and non-fictional, will go down as some of the best performances in cinematic history.
Through his treatments and surgeries, not only did Boseman continue to bring powerful performances to the big screen, he also visited children in hospitals, some of which were being treated for cancer just like him. Fans were expressive when it came to the impact he has had on their lives. Boseman passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and family members.
