November 5 was an election day to remember. Donald Trump won the presidential election by receiving 312 electoral votes to Kamala Harris’s 226. This comes as a surprise to many as a lot of recent polls showed that the race was projected to be close with many predictions in favor of Kamala Harris. As much as a shock that the presidential election was, it’s even more surprising when you look at the results for both the Senate and the House of Representatives. This year‘s election resulted in a red wave across America, resulting in a Republican majority in the Senate holding 53 seats as well as a Republican majority in the House of Representatives where they reached 218 seats as of today and are projected to gain even more. These results are very telling of how this administration will operate. President-elect Trump now has Republican support in both the Senate and the House, as well as a conservative majority in the Supreme Court, allowing him more liberties than he ever had in his first presidential term. This administration will have very little pushback when proposing new programs and government cutbacks which for his supporters can be viewed as a godsend while Democrats view it as a nightmare.
