During the D23 Event hosted by Disney, a lot of new projects were teased, from new Pixar films to a live remake of The Little Mermaid. But fans of the Star Wars franchise were focused on one thing; the second season of The Bad Batch. Bad Batch is an animated series on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. The series follows a squad of clones with unique traits known as Clone Force 99 (or more likely known as the “Bad Batch.”) Unlike the clones from the series The Clone Wars, they look very different from the others. For example, one called Hunter has longer hair, and has heightened senses, one called Wrecker, who is much larger than the average 6-foot clone, can lift heavy objects. Each member has their own set of skills that make them work so well together. The Bad Batch was first shown in the final season of Clone Wars. Later in the year, on May 4 of 2021, created by clone wars director/producer Dave Filoni, they released a 70-minute episode of The Bad Batch. The series follows the clones as they adjust to the aftermath of the events after the war ended, and the Galactic Empire. They picked up a female clone child called Omega; she joins the clones toward the end of the first episode. The season finale shows the squad leaving their home planet to avoid getting caught by the Empire. This left the fans hoping for a second season to be released shortly. In the year 2022, Disney released a trailer for the second season, at the end of the trailer, it was released that the second season would be available on Disney’s streaming service in Fall of 2022. This included having a poster on the streaming service with the release date. However, shortly before fall arrived, they removed the poster’s date and replaced it with “coming soon”. This left fans frustrated and feeling like they were being teased by the creators, or the corporation. At the D23 convention, it was then revealed that the second season would be available for streaming on January 4th of next year, instead of being released on September 28 of this year. It will be given a two-episode debut, with 16 episodes in total, which was two more than the first season having only 14 episodes and a one-episode debut. However, more Star Wars content was released, which will hopefully keep fans happy while they wait another 3 months for the season to be released.
