The Dallas Cowboys are off to a great start on the road 1-0 thanks to the domination of the defense holding the Browns to only 17 points. The Cowboys defense has a new look this year with the hiring of longtime head coach and former Cowboys safeties coach, Mike Zimmer. The main questions heading into week 1 for Dallas was, “How are they going to look with a new system?” and “Are there actually going to be schematic changes or stay the same as last year?”. Well, that defense answered all those questions with holding the Browns run game to only 3.4 YPC and giving Deshaun Watson fits at the line of scrimmage. The defensive stars in this game will go to Micah Parsons recording 9 pressures, 6 QB hits, and 1 sack as well as veteran Eric Kendricks who recorded a career high of 2.5 sacks, 6 pressures and an interception. Those were only 2 out of the 15 guys who appeared on the defensive side of the ball who were impressive, but the most impressive would have to be linebacker Demarvion Overshown from the University of Texas. The Cowboys fan base were ecstatic to see him finally play in a Dallas uniform for the first time since tearing his ACL and MCL last preseason game which knocked him out all of his rookie year. Overshown brought something the Cowboys were lacking in the linebacker department which was physicality and electric speed recording 1 sack, 11 tackles and 4 pressures in his debut. Overall this 33-17 win felt really good beating a team like the Browns with arguably the best defense and shutting a top 12 offense in the league to only 17 points. Overall a lot to be happy with, but a lot to improve on going into week 2 against a scrappy Saints team.
